Stepchild is a human Marine and the player character of Ground Zero.
His feats in the war against the Strogg include the destruction of the Tectonic Stabilizer, disruption of the Strogg ground-to-air communications, securing an Experimental Strogg Fighter, and the destruction of the infamous Gravity Well, which was used to trap the human fleet above Stroggos, allowing the second invasion on the planet to begin.
At the end of his mission, Stepchild successfully returned back to his command ship, the Deimos, and most likely returned to Earth alive and possaibility retiring the military rank - as a true veteran and a hero.
