In Quake 2, the Rebreather is a powerup that allows you to breath underwater for 30 seconds. After the timer is up, the game will act like you just jumped into water, so find some air quickly before you take damage!

• Despite how useful it seems, the Rebreather is only useful near the end of the Prison hub and in the last level in the Hangar hub. Albeit, new players should use the Rebreather when they enter the water since some areas underwater act like mazes where new players can get lost and drown.
