Biography[]

Manual biography

A veteran of the Stroggos campaign, Major Wayland is haunted by the memories of her fallen troops and the parasites that killed them. It may be that she believes she's still fighting that long-concluded war.

Profile

Crisp, authoritative and professional. She is a near-humorless, no-nonsense military officer. Wearing battle scars that ravage her face like the medals of conflict she once coveted, she adamantly refuses any and all implants. Although fully human, she hides her emotions better than many machines.[1]

Prima Guide biography

Major Artemis Wayland is haunted by the fallen comrades from the Stroggos campaign. She lost everything and everyone to the onrushing hordes of cyborgs, and because of this, she has refused any cybronic implants herself. She bears the scars of thousands of conflicts and wears them proudly, refusing even to cover up the socket where her eye was lost to a combat long past. While still fully human, Major Wayland is a killing machine bent on recovering the honor she lost to the Stroggs.

Major is most at home with a rocket launcher, which she uses with deadly effect. While she is competent with other weapons, this one is her favorite. Major's comments are generally short and to the point.

Strategy[]

She's one of the most dangerous and challenging gladiators; she's simply dreadful at high difficulties. She can use Rocket Launcher and Machine Gun very effectively, has above average Railgun accuracy and jumping characteristics.

If she's using Machine Gun from afar, you better take cover or do sharp turns and fight back to make her lose your sight. When she's newly respawned she can hunt anyone down on an open area from very far distances with sheer accuracy. Like an awoken tiger she wrecks everything on her path until she gets her hands on another weapon.

If not the best, her second best weapon is Rocket Launcher, no doubt; she can land air rockets pretty often if you dare to face her in the mid-air.

At lower difficulties she's slow and even have crouching characteristics more than jumping. When player takes on her at the highest difficulty things take a rapid turn. She has one of the fastest reaction times in game, let alone the swift turning speed. When these coupled with her accuracy at high difficulties, Major herself alone stands as a quite challenge to the player.

  • At the chat lines she generally get mentioned as "Boss Lady", "Cyclops", "Ms.Major, Sir", "Major Witch" and "Iron-Thighs".
  • Major is the most difficult bot to confront in Quake 3 Arena 1-on-1, beating Xaero at second.
  • Major shares her model and voice with Daemia.
  • She shares her combat traits with Anarki.
  • In Quake Live, Major has a sister bot called Demona, who uses Major's red team skin.
