The sixth unit of Quake II.

Bitterman is now much closer to the Big Gun, yet there is one more obstacle in his path - a major Strogg power plant. Taking it out would severely disrupt the enemy defences.

The reactor, however, cannot be destroyed directly. Its coolant system must be disabled first, so that it would overheat. Then, the waste disposal facility must be shut down as well, so that the power plant is flooded with toxic sludge. Only then will the reactor fail and blow up, opening the way to the Big Gun.

The Big Gun is now visible in the background skyline, an absolutely colossal structure from the viewpoint of a human on ground level.

Trivia[]

In the Playstation version of Quake II, this Unit takes the form of Mission 3. The Cooling Facility is absent, but a new level Waste Disposal Area is visited after Pumping Station 2; this level is based upon the later sections of Pumping Station 2, but is not directly connected to it.
