—The Quake II Manual |
In Quake II, the Bandolier is a power-up which increases the player's maximum capacity for various types of ammunition (see the list below for details). It also confers an immediate bonus of 50 bullets and 10 shells when collected.
If you collect another Bandolier later, your maximum ammo capacity won't increase any further, but you will still receive the immediate bonus of bullets and shells.
The Ammo Pack is a superior version of the Bandolier, increasing maximum ammo capacity to a greater extent, and giving more ammunition upon pickup - see its own page for details.

- Bullets: 250 (from 200)
- Shells: 150 (from 100)

Locations[]
The first opportunities to obtain a Bandolier in each campaign are as follows:
Campaign | Location |
---|---|
Quake II | Detention Center |
The Reckoning | Sewers |
Ground Zero | Lower Mines |
Quake II 64 | Not found |
Quake II PSX | Security Complex |
Call of the Machine |
Strategies[]
Single Player[]
- In single player, the Bandolier is invaluable, allowing you to stockpile larger amounts of ammo - so collect it at the first opportunity. Furthermore, given how effective the Power Shield is, the ability to carry more cells can be considered to be a defensive upgrade as well. Even after you've already got one (or the superior Ammo Pack), it's still worth collecting it to top up your bullet and shell supplies.
Multiplayer[]
- In multiplayer, the Bandolier is almost completely useless. You'll rarely hit max ammo for a firearm in the first place, so there's no real reason for going out of your way to get it.
